Smith Sheet Metal specializing in all aspects of architectural sheet metal and custom fabrication was started in 1983 by Terry Smith and has since earned the reputation as a quality conscious, customer oriented contractor that meets or exceeds the expectations of its customers. In 1993 the company was acquired by Webb Industries Inc. which has modernized and equipped the company while tripling the productivity and gross sales. Smith Sheet Metal generally performs as a sub-contractor to general contractors; however, as the need arises, we do general our own projects with bonding limits in excess of $5,000,000. In the past, Smith Sheet Metal has functioned as a general contractor with Oregon State University, University of Oregon, Bonneville Power Administration, Oregon State Department of Corrections, City of Eugene, and numerous public school districts throughout the State of Oregon.
Our key personnel consist of Linda and Lloyd Webb as Operation Managers/Owners of Webb Industries Inc., dba Smith Sheet Metal. Royal Foran is our estimator/advisor with over 38 years of sheet metal experience. Jim Stedman, Project Manager, has over 24 years of hands-on experience in the sheet metal trade, and manages most of our larger projects as either a lead field journeyman or project manager. Mark Webb, Project Manager, is a recent business graduate of University of Oregon and has six years of sheet metal experience. Julie Gray, our office coordinator, manages job files, communications, correspondence, product warranties and office systems. Mike Hunter, shop supervisor, manages all aspects of our custom fabrication shop.
Smith Sheet Metal has a complete shop with experienced journeymen and computerized press brakes, forming equipment and plasma cutting systems. Our shop is designed and tailored to meet the needs of our field crews, repeat customers, walk-ins and specialized manufacturing. Systems are in place to keep the office, field crews and shop in constant communication. Daily orders are faxed or sent to the shop for fabrication and delivery to the field either the same or next day. Our shop operates according to workload requirements using overtime or a second shift as needed to meet the needs of the eight field crews and outside customers.
Assisting the shop is our office staff who coordinates the paperwork flow with the aid of a networked computer system. A quality control system is in place where the owner and/or project manager visits each job site at various times and at a final inspection. Our high standards of doing a good job the first time have earned Smith Sheet Metal an outstanding reputation for quality and customer service.
